Dayang Nurfaizah binti Awang Dowty or more known by the name Dayang Nurfaizah is Malaysia's Princess of R&B . Dayang is from Kuching, Sarawak and was born on 20 July 1981.
Dayang recorded her first album with the title Dayang Nurfaizah which was released in May 1999. It has a concept of pop and R&B. The album's first single Hakikat Cinta introduced Dayang to the local music industry.
Recently, she took a big risk by joining the One in a million, a new singing competition. She was one of the top four in the competition and was voted out by Malaysians on the 15th of September 2006.
She has her own recording company, DN & AD Entertainment Sdn Bhd. Under the company, she released her fourth studio album, Dayang Sayang Kamu on 31 October 2004.
One In A Million
The recording industry was shocked over Dayang's participation in One In A Million. Dayang participation got a mixed review from various medias that suggested Dayang to give the opportunity for other new talents because she had an establish position in the local music industry. During the competition, Dayang showed her liability to sang the R&B music with her own style and one of the judges, Paul Moss called Dayang as the Booty Shaking Funky Hot Diva. Dayang was voted out during the TOP 4 show when she got the highest vote out amongst the last four participants. Dayang's elimination was the most shocking elimination in the history of Malaysia reality TV and got coveraged from all local newspapers and been a big issue discussed in the Internet.
